Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been admitted to a Mumbai hospital. The Australian was found infected during a Rapid Antigen Test conducted on Monday morning. He complained of a headache and slight fever, so the Delhi Capitals decided to have an RT-PCR Test of all its members, out of which Marsh’s result returned positive.
Later in the evening, Delhi Capitals confirmed Marsh’s positive test result and said the franchise is closely monitoring his condition.
“A few more members from the Delhi Capitals bio-bubble, including support staff members, have returned positive tests as well. Though they are all asymptomatic, their condition is being monitored closely by the franchise. All remaining members of the bubble are currently in isolation in their respective rooms, and will be tested regularly,” it said in a statement.

In the morning, the development had prompted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to advise Delhi Capitals to put their departure to Pune on hold till a fresh round of RT-PCR testing was done.
Marsh became the third member in the Delhi Capitals camp to test positive. On Friday, their physio Patrick Farhart returned a positive result and a day later, a masseur was shown to be infected. Both were separated from the rest of the team.
Delhi Capitals are scheduled to meet Punjab Kings at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The biggest worry for the Indian board now is to stop the virus from spreading across the teams and they are now working to chalk out another plan to prevent this from happening.
On Saturday, for the Delhi Capitals-Royal Challengers Bangalore game, the Indian board had instructed that there would be no handshakes or hugging between players of both teams to avoid any possible transmission.
The players from different teams usually congregate for a chat after games before they disperse. The Delhi players were advised to maintain social distancing during chats and the use of masks had also been recommended. The non-playing team members watching the game from the stands were requested to wear face masks throughout the match, except when eating or drinking.
