Covid-19 Live News Updates: India reported 18,257 new Covid-19 cases, lower than yesterday’s 18,840, in the last 24 hours ending 8 am Sunday, data from the Union health ministry revealed. The country reported 42 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total death tally to 5,25,428. As many as 3,662 active cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload to 1,28,690.
Delhi Saturday reported 544 new Coronavirus cases, two deaths with a psoitivity rate of 3.37 per cent. The national capital also saw 607 recoveries, in the last 24 hours. Delhi currently has 2,264 active Covid-19 cases. Maharashtra, on the other hand, Saturday recorded 2,760 new coronavirus cases and five pandemic-related deaths, the state health department said. The caseload in the state rose to 80,01,433, and death toll reached 1,47,976. As many as 2,939 patients recovered, taking the tally of recoveries to 78,34,785.
China reported 420 new COVID-19 infections on July 9, down from 455 a day earlier, according to data published by the National Health Commission on Sunday. The total included 319 asymptomatic infections, which China counts separately, while 76 were imported and the rest local transmissions, Reuters reported. Shanghai, the location of China’s biggest outbreak earlier this year, reported nine symptomatic cases and 52 asymptomatic cases, compared to 11 and 48, respectively, a day earlier.
